Privacy

StreamNorth sets no cookies, loads no advertising trackers, and stores nothing on your device. It does measure which pages lead to conversations, because a site that cannot tell what works ends up guessing — and guessing is how you get pushier and worse. This page says exactly what that measurement involves.

What is recorded

When you use this site, each interaction produces one short record:

A random event ID
Identifies one interaction. Tied to nothing else.
A random reference code
Six characters, generated fresh each visit, held in your browser's memory only. It appears in the WhatsApp message so we can tell which page led to a conversation.
A timestamp
When the interaction happened.
The page path
Which page you were on. Not the query string.
The interaction type
Page view, CTA click, FAQ opened, scroll depth.
The plan name, if you clicked one
For example “6-months”.
Language and market
en-CA or fr-CA; Canada.
Whether the request looked automated
So crawler traffic is not counted as visitors.

What is never recorded

The following are rejected by the server before a record is written. This is enforced in code, not promised in policy — a record containing any of them is discarded rather than stored:

Cookies and device storage

There are none. No cookie is set, and nothing is written to local storage. The reference code that ties a page to a conversation lives in your browser’s memory for as long as the tab is open and disappears when you close it. This is why you will not see a consent banner here: there is nothing on your device to consent to.

Why this is collected

Legitimate interest in understanding which guides are useful and which pages lead people to get in touch. The records are pseudonymous rather than anonymous — a reference code plus timestamps could in principle be linked back to a person, so they are treated as personal information under PIPEDA and handled accordingly rather than waved through as “just analytics”.

How long it is kept

13 months, then deleted. That window exists so one year can be compared with the previous one; beyond it the data has no use and keeping it would only be risk.

If you buy a plan

Purchases happen in WhatsApp, so that conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s own terms. On our side, a confirmed sale is recorded as the reference code, the plan, the amount in Canadian dollars, the expiry date, and whether you agreed to a renewal reminder. Not your name, not your number, not the conversation.

You will only receive a renewal reminder if you said yes in words when you bought. If you did not, none is ever drafted — Canada’s anti-spam law requires express consent, and silence is not consent. One reply asking to stop ends contact permanently.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw consent for renewal reminders at any time. Message the WhatsApp number used elsewhere on this site and quote your reference code if you have it. Without it, a record cannot be located — that is a consequence of not storing anything that would identify you.

Third parties

Analytics providers are loaded only if configured, and none is required for the site to work. No data is sold, and no data is shared with advertisers, because none is collected in a form that would be worth anything to one.

Questions about any of this are welcome — including the awkward ones. If something on this page is unclear, it is a defect on our side, not yours.
